Level 1 - Exterior Lockdown
  • Monitor students' movement
  • Remain inside building

Level 2 - Interior Lockdown
  • Lock exterior & classroom doors
  • Open exterior blinds *
  • Use Remind to contact admins
  • No one leaves classroom
  • Continue teaching
Level 3 - Full Lockdown
  • Lock classroom doors & drop black shade
  • Lights off
  • Hide and remain silent
  • Open exterior blinds *

  • Defend against the threat as a last resort

🏫 Building Evacuation


  1. 🚨 Alarm is sounded.
  2. 🧰 Account for all students and take Crisis Go Bag with you. Check room and report any concenrs to administration using Remind.
  3. 🚪 Exit the building quietly and quickly to a designated areas as outlined on the Evacuation map.
  4. 📋 Take attendance
    • Be sure all students, paraprofessional and visitors are present.
    • Assist subs if needed
    • Report those who are missing using the clipboards found in your Crisis Bag and give to the nearest administrator.
  5. 🗨️ Wait for further instructions from Remind or the supervising administrator.

    * Report Status: All Clear, Missing, or Injured

⛈️ Severe Weather

  1. Severe weather is announced.
  2. Locate class rolls and Crisis Go Bag
  3. Move students to a designated area away from windows, exterior walls, and rooms with large roof spans.
  4. Instruct students to face a wall, if possible, and squat down in the fetal position with their heads down and their arms covering their heads. Be sure there is a clear path for those passing through.
  5. Account for all students and wait for further instructions via Remind.

indicates that weather conditions are present that may develop into a tornado.

+ Tornado WARNING:

indicates that a tornado has been sighted in the immediate area or indicated on radar.

🚨 Lockdown

+ Level 1 - Exterior Lockdown
  • Lock all exterior doors, lock, and monitor man access door.
  • Monitor movement of students, particularly between classes.
  • Movement is limited to inside the building.
  • Students and staff remain in building.
  • Block visibility into classrooms from exterior windows & doors.

+ Level 2 - Interior Lockdown
  • Lock all exterior doors as well as ensure classroom doors are secured.
  • Open exterior window blinds or curtains to allow exterior visibility into classroom.*
  • Use Remind to contact administration of any concerns.
  • Staff and students do not leave classroom.
  • Continue classroom instruction or normal activities within the classroom.

+ Level 3 - Full Lockdown
  • If safe to do so, lock exterior doors.
  • Immediately ensure classroom doors are locked, drop shade & consider barricading interior classroom doors.
  • All persons move out of sight in locked room (eg, next to interior walls, under desks, under tables). Turn off lights and/or block visibility if possible.
  • Remain silent - this includes cell phones and other devices.
  • Open exterior window blinds or curtains to allow exterior visibility into classroom.*
  • School officials get into lockdown position also.

  • Avoid the threat (this may mean different actions depending on location.)
  • Deny the threat access to students and faculty through locked doors and barricading.
  • Defend the threat as an absolute last resort - do not leave a secure area to "hunt" the threat.
